Hey everyone in the West Band Community. I know it may be hard for you to let go, but both of our band directors are moving on in the career. And it is a good reasons too. There shouldn't be any hate between people cussing and saying bad things about either of them. They are still part of us, even though they won't be here next year.

We must all look at this as an opprotunity to grow musically. We have new opinions, new point of views. I will not tolerate people saying that band is not going to be the same. Of course it won't. It isn't the same every two days. No pessimism in the band. We all must take this maturely and greet the new directors with 100% of our devotion to them. And I know that people worshipped Adams like god. I certainly was one of them. But we now have two new directors and we must (and this sounds crazy) worship them.

I'm sure whoever is going to be directing the band will know our talent within the first couple of weeks. We have marching band to prove that we are good musicians. That we are a good ENSEMBLE. And we have a heck of a show to prove that, for those who have not heard it yet.

It may take them months to settle in, but we need to make it seem like weeks or even days. We cannot be on the "you took Adams job I hate you" bandwagon because that is absolutely absurd. Adams left at his own disgression. Now we must do whatever we can to make the new band directors feel comfortable so tensions are lowered in the band. You will not see me act hostily to the new band directors. I am going on rookie day to set an example of how everyone should act. Many people understand this, but some do not. We need to be open minded at this time in our band career. I don't want to hear talks of quitting or dropping band, and ESPECIALLY NOT talks of not giving 100%. We need to give 150% times 10.

Now, I don't know what to expect. I don't know what kind of pieces we are going to play. But I guarentee that Mr. Adams is giving them a good clue of where we are at level wise...Grade 3-5 pieces. And the same with the jazz band. So, if you think about it, nothing is going to change musically.

So let's show them. So let's show ourselves. We can do this.

An Apology Jul. 19th, 2005 @ 07:24 am

Allright. Surfing Livejournal I found all this. Thats cool. This is Bill Anzalone by the way. Id like to give out an apology to you all. My Freshman year(Especially at teh beginning) I was a total ass. That's not cool. I treated the storage room like the whole thing was my locker. That's not cool. Leaving a million shirts, football pads, cleats, half eaten sandwiches and old backpacks/gun cases with old cheetos in them in the band room wasn't cool. Walking around pretending Im King Shit Wasn't cool. A particular apology to you devin, I didn't treat you fairly at all. I mean, the hand you were dealt with 4 freshman trombone players couldn't have been easy for you. And yet, I made It worse for you. Again, I'm sorry. So Im just letting you know Sophmore year you'll see a more responsible and sensible Bill. The pills must be working.

and enough of that crap, Band camp soon, who is *not* psyched?

(Hopefully people still go here :p)

Soph. year (02-03) Marching band ---- La suerte de los tantos and others..
Soph year (02-03) spring ----- Watchman tell us of the night, Variations on a shaker melody
(If there are CD's from last year, I'd love to have them)
This year (04-05) Marching band --- AD 1928/rockin', Too much time, Land of Make beleive etc.
This year (04-05) Large group --- October, Incantation, and Ride

So, if you have them tucked away somwhere, make me a copy? or bring it in and I can copy it.

So, I am potentially going to run for a position in the board next year. For all of those members of band that will be around next year, give me some feedback on what could be improved this year. I'll take all ideas into consideration. Thank you for your support.

P.S. I sort of like Handel in the Strand, but I think it is just a bit too hard for everyone, cause i just noticed that the trombone 2 have the melody at C. Hmmm. Anyways, Procession of Nobles kicks ass. I wonder what else we will read...
» Large GROUP!
So Larger Group went pretty well eh? We received all A's so that is excellent.
Congrats to all of you! I have included some pictures, but the ones on the bus were hard
because I am short...

Interesting Large Group PicturesCollapse )

wooooooooot large group tomorrow! i'm so excited!

like three days ago i lost my Ride music. that was a bummer. i've been looking for it for three days, so i copied ali's music. as soon as i stepped out of the room with the copier, i turned around and found it. so now i have 2 copies of Ride.

in other losing news, like 3 months ago i lost my stick bag. and this afternoon i found it. sweet. it was in the car, and i don't remember putting it there. when i told becky that i found it, she was like "yeah i knew it was in there. you didn't?" grrrrrrr. but she got into UMASS and UNH so it's all good. :-D

» Congratulations!
Hey! Everyone should congratulate the fabulous Becky Noyes on her acceptance into UMass Amherst! (UNH too!)

Way to go!
