Still mulling over the music department at West, it seems like the West Admin and school board (and maybe even the Aldermen) are continuing to defeat the music department. Music is so important to so many people. And I feel bad now that Mr. Adams is gone because he fought so hard against those people to make our style of band life better. And now, who knows how long the band kids will have the same musty marching uniforms. Are funds going to be taken away from the band? These are the questions that no band member has control over. We can change how we work on a small scale, but who is going to fight to keep music important in Manchester?
I feel bad for all of the people that are going to go through West in the next couple of years. We, as a band, depend so much on the money we get from the city for new drum heads, new school instruments, new uniforms, repairs, etc. Is there something we can do? Do we as students have enough power to change the minds of powerful men?
